The Springfield International Folk Dancers (SIFD) strongly believe in the idea that folk dancing is for everyone. We celebrate world cultures, including our community's connection to Abraham Lincoln and the Civil War era. The group's mission is to educate people in Sangamon and surrounding counties through dance and costuming from the cultural heritage of the area. We strive to preserve each culture's unique heritage through learning about their traditions and sharing them with our local community.
SIFD is a nonprofit organization that has been an active part of Springfield's artistic community since the group was founded in 1975. SIFD continues to expand its repertoire, which now includes dances from over 20 countries.
